The BC Ministry of Health reported 481 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period from Friday, June 4th to Monday, June 7th.

There have been 145,530 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Friday-Saturday: 218
  • Saturday-Sunday: 131
  • Sunday-Monday: 133

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 70
  • Fraser Health: 285
  • Island Health: 9
  • Interior Health: 101
  • Northern Health: 15 

While the numbers above do not add up, they were reported by the BC Ministry of Health.

There are currently 2,102 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

There are now a total of 199 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 63 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units. 

12 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,722.

Outbreaks

There have been two new outbreaks in the province. One at Kelowna General Hospital in Interior Health and one at Glenwood Seniors Community in Fraser Health.

The outbreak at Sunrise Poultry has been declared to be over.

There are currently 6 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities and 1 outbreaks in acute-care facilities.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 9 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 19 (+1) Total Cases: 1914
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 8 (-6) Total Cases: 2,446
  • North Vancouver Island Active cases: 2 (-2) Total Cases: 691

3 people remain in hospital with 0 in ICU.

There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region.

41 people have died since the pandemic began

Vaccinations

74% of all adults in B.C. and 72% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

To date, 3,635,795 (+146,911) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 314,246 (+57,521) of which are second doses.
