Do you know someone that has contributed to your community’s needs in unique and generous ways?
If so, you’re in luck, because National Philanthropy Day’s (NPD) Giving Hearts Award Celebration and Giving Hearts Honour Roll have returned for their annual edition.
NPD is celebrated on November 15th each year in Canada, and is a special day set aside to recognize the importance of working together for the common good.
It was created to honour the many daily contributions individuals and organizations across Vancouver Island make to countless causes and missions.
This year, the AFP Vancouver Island Chapter will host the 22nd Annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration virtually during the week of November 15th.
This is when AFP Vancouver Island will recognize the unique, innovative, and caring ways individuals and organizations have shown support for one another including the 2021 Giving Hearts Award Celebration and Giving Hearts Honour Roll.
You can find out more about the award categories and how to nominate someone deserving below, but keep in mind nominations are only open until June 30th!
There are seven award categories this year in the 2021 Giving Hearts Award Celebration, including:
-
Generosity of Spirit
-
Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer

Outstanding Corporate Responsibility
-
Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy
-
Outstanding Youth Group in Philanthropy
-

These will honour the outstanding acts of individuals, groups, and organizations that responded to unprecedented needs in our community in unique and generous ways in a very trying year!
The AFP Vancouver Island Chapter is now accepting award nominations, and they are open to the entire community and will be accepted until June 30th.
In addition to the Giving Hearts Award Celebrations, AFP Vancouver Island is also accepting nominations for this years’ Giving Hearts Honour Roll.
The honour roll celebrates anyone, including individuals, businesses, or groups, that have made a positive change in their community this year – any contribution, big or small!
The deadline for nominations for the Giving Hearts Honour Roll is June 30th.
You’ll have the chance to show appreciation for outstanding neighbours, friends, and local change-makers for free by nominating community members for a Giving Hearts Award and/or Giving Hearts Honour Roll.
“These have been extraordinary times and we are excited to be providing our Vancouver Island community an opportunity to celebrate everyone who has stepped up in extraordinary ways,” says AFP Vancouver Island Chapter President, Colleen Bronson.
“Philanthropic deeds come in all different shapes and sizes — charitable giving, volunteering, advocacy, etc. — and on National Philanthropy Day this year, we want no act of kindness to go unnoticed.”
NPD events will also include a Virtual Philanthropy Café Masterclass, and a Power of Youth: Giving Hearts Workshop.
