Mayfair Shopping Centre under new ownership with long-term plans for redevelopment

One of Victoria’s largest shopping centres is now operating under new ownership and  management, as of June 1st.

Mayfair Shopping Centre, which was formerly under the umbrella of Ivanhoé Cambridge, has been purchased by Weihong Liu of Central Walk.

This is the second transaction on Vancouver Island between Central Walk and Ivanhoé  Cambridge, who previously completed the purchase and of Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo in September of last year.

Ms. Liu, Chairwoman, CEO and Founder of Central Walk, says she works off of a desire to grow within local people and communities.

“I’m so happy to have completed this investment on beautiful Vancouver Island. Everyone treats everyone else in a friendly and respectful way here,” says Chairwoman Liu.

“Because this community has accepted me with open arms, I am committed to continuing to work with local leaders to build the communities that we have invested in so that, together, we can make them the very best places that they can be.”

According to a release from the shopping centre, Central Walk has exciting plans for the future of the property.

Increasing the frequency and variety of educational, entertainment, and community engagement events at the centre is top priority, once it is safe to do so, says a statement from Central Walk.

Redevelopment of the property is also a longer-term vision for the shopping centre, though this is still in the preliminary stages.

Central Walk operates in Asia under a different name and is a multi-billion commercial real estate company that operates in-house management of properties with a retail core; the company particularly specializes in the shopping centre concept.
