Saanich Police arrest two people connected to hit and run in stolen vehicle at Uptown

Saanich Police arrested two people at Uptown Shopping Centre who allegedly stole a vehicle from Langford that was involved in a hit and run.

On Tuesday June 1st, around 8:30 a.m., a witness observed a 4-door Buick sedan hit a concrete pillar at Uptown Shopping Centre.

The vehicle continued to drive on and a witness called police.

The witness provided a detailed description of the two suspects who eventually abandoned and walked away from the vehicle.

Saanich police said that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Langford just after 2:00 a.m. the same day.

Officers responded to the area, including a bicycle officer who spotted both suspects walking along the Galloping Goose Trail.

The suspects fled on foot and one was arrested on the trail while the other crossed the Trans Canada Highway directly into the path of a police officer at Regina Park.

A police K9 assisted in locating evidence related to the crime.

Saanich Police are recommending charges of possession of stolen property and breach of release conditions for both suspects.
