The northbound lanes on Douglas Street are closed after a pedestrian was struck near Uptown Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3:50 p.m. and as a result, all northbound lanes of Douglas Street at Saanich Road are currently closed.
While unconfirmed, witnesses tell Victoria Buzz an argument broke out between two people and one of those individuals ended up on the road as a garbage truck was passing by.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene, and the area is expected to be closed for several hours as police investigate.
