Here’s how your gently-used electronics can help Lytton wildfire victims

Share

BC’s recent heat wave was felt across the province and the after effects are still ongoing.

According to the BC Coroners Service, the number of deaths in a one-week period during the heatwave were three times more than normal in previous years.

As Lytton BC broke temperature records, a wildfire also spread, destroying most of the village. The cause of the fire has still yet to be determined, although it has been suspected to be human caused.

As a result, many residents of the town have been left without homes and lost most, if not all, of their belongings.

To help the people of Lytton affected by the fires, Dial-A-Geek, a computer repair service in Victoria, is holding an electronics drive.

Dial-A-Geek will be accepting donations of gently loved laptops, tablets and old phones at their office until Friday, July 16th.

The company is coordinating with a local IT provider to ship the donated, gently used second hand machines to be refurbished and distributed to the people of Lytton who have experienced hardship due to the fires.

If you are interested in donating, you can drop off your gently used electronics to Dial A Geek from now until Friday, July 16th.
