IMAX will return to screens in September after almost a year long hiatus

Things have been slowly reopening in BC after the province announced its Restart Plan in late May.

In a media release Friday, the IMAX at the Royal BC Museum announced its reopening date.

The Royal BC Museum confirmed the IMAX Victoria theatre will reopen to the public on Friday, September 3rd.

An upcoming film schedule will also be released in the coming weeks.

Topping the list of IMAX films are blockbuster movies like The Suicide Squad, Jungle Cruise, Dune, Top Gun: Maverick, and the upcoming James Bond movie No Time to Die.

The theatre closed its doors in November 2020, to comply with BC’s COVID-19 public health orders, which is why the Royal BC Museum will automatically extend the term of all current IMAX annual passes to March 31st, 2022.

“The IMAX Victoria theatre is an integral part of the Royal BC Museum, a beloved feature of the neighbourhood and a valuable venue for local film lovers,” says Erika Stenson, A/Vice President of Museum Operations at the Royal BC Museum.

“We know film buffs, especially IMAX Annual Passholders, will be thrilled by this news, and we thank them for their patience and loyalty.”

So set the date and get ready to catch a show in style!
