Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a report of a body seen floating in Westwood Lake yesterday afternoon.
The sighting was made by a woman paddleboarding on the lake at approximately 4:25 p.m., on Sunday, July 25th.
The woman told officers she was paddleboarding near the south end of the lake when she first saw the body and immediately paddled to the life guard station to call 911.
Firefighters launched their rescue boat but did not locate anyone; neither did an RCMP underwater recovery team, said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien.
Officers remained in the area throughout the day to check on any vehicles that were left unattended after the park closed but none were found.
So… Currently at the lake
Lifeguards pulled everyone from the guarded side
Came to the ungarded looking for them
3 RCMP cruisers and a fire engine just showed up and I hear more sirens in the distance unsure if it's related
