This weekend, movie lovers can attend a drive-in right here on Vancouver Island!
No, we haven’t time travelled back in time, this is real.
Legacy Drive-In has opened at Westshore Motorsports Park (formerly Western Speedway) to bring popular movies to the big screen.
This weekend, you can see Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues on Saturday and The Iron Giant on Sunday.
If you’ve never been to a drive-in movie theatre before, you may have a few questions.
How will I hear the movie?
The movie audio is transmitted through FM radio. This means you listen through your own car radio! If you are concerned about your battery dying, you can also bring a battery powered radio with you to listen.
Can I reserve a specific parking spot?
Legacy Drive-In does not take reservations. It is recommended that guests show up 30 minutes prior to the show to ensure they get a good spot.
Those driving oversized vehicles will be asked to park further back on the lot to ensure they do not block the view of other guests.
Will there be movie snacks?
Although guests are allowed to bring their own snacks to the film, hot food and concession will also be available for purchase from Westshore Burger Co.
They will be offering chicken strips, burgers, hot dogs and more! They even have a kids menu available.
You can pre-order food in advance here!
Do I have to stay in my car?
Due to COVID-19, Legacy Drive-In is asking all patrons to remain in their cars during their visit.
Guests are permitted to sit on the trunk of their car or in the bed of their truck if they choose, they just note to please ensure you are not obstructing the view of other patrons trying to enjoy the film.
How much does it cost?
The price is $30/car. Bring your friends!
