The BC Ministry of Health reported 717 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, August 13th.
There have been 155,079 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 101
- Fraser Health: 140
- Island Health: 40
- Interior Health: 376
- Northern Health: 60
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 4,277 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
148,964 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 82 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 39 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
There were no reports of deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,779.
Outbreaks
There are currently 11 outbreaks in long-term care and assisted-living facilities. Outbreaks are at Holyrood Manor, Kin Village West Court and Evergreen Baptist Care Society in Fraser Health, Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Brookhaven Care Centre, Village at Mill Creek, Hawthorn Park and David Lloyd Jones in Interior Health and Discovery Harbour in Island Health.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 217 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 126 │Total Cases: 2202
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 72 │ Total Cases: 2627
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 19 │Total Cases: 736
2 people remain in hospital with 3 in ICU.
There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region today, and a total of 41 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
82.4% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 72.0% received their second dose.
In addition, 83.2% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 73.6% received their second dose.
To date, 7,164,020 (+22,824) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,337,348 (+18,597) of which are second doses.
