COVID-19 vaccine bookings at Eagle Ridge to be relocated to downtown Victoria due to high heat

Share

Once again, COVID-19 vaccine bookings at the Eagle Ridge Arena in Langford are being relocated to downtown Victoria due to the upcoming heat.

After challenges faced during the heatwave in late June and early July, Island Health is taking proactive steps in temporarily moving vaccine appointments during high temperatures expected this week.

Island Health is relocating all August 12th, 13th and 14th appointments from the Eagle Ridge immunization clinic to the air-conditioned Victoria Conference Centre.

Appointment dates and times remain the same, only location will change.

Those with affected appointments will be contacted and notified of the change. If anyone receives a notification with incorrect information instructing them to proceed to Eagle Ridge they are told to go to the Victoria Conference Centre instead.

Southern Vancouver Island is expected to be hit by a heatwave starting tomorrow with temperatures reaching upwards of 35 degrees Celsius in certain areas, according to Environment Canada.

The heatwave will affect the Greater Victoria area, as well as Campbell River, Comox Valley, Courtenay, Nanaimo, East Vancouver Island and Inland Vancouver Island, as well as mainland Coastal areas.
