Free mobile dental clinic for low-income BIPOC women and their children launches in Victoria

Share

This weekend, the Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour (SNIWWOC) launches their free mobile dental health clinic for low-income BIPOC women and their children.

SNIWWOC notes that regular dental visits, which are important to overall health, are often not accessible to low-income, racialized women due to associated cost and/or lack of insurance.

The network, in sponsorship with Khalsa Aid Canada and Wheely Clean, works to remove the barrier of these costs for eligible women and their children in Greater Victoria.

SNIWWOC focuses on providing a holistic healthcare program delivery for racialized women which includes free mental health counselling, peer and career support and their newest project, the mobile dental hygiene clinic.

The clinic will launch this weekend with an outdoor, COVID-friendly celebration at the Punjabi Akali Sikh Temple in Victoria.

The free dental hygiene clinic is open for low-income racialized women, two-spirited people and their accompanied minors.

The program is available once a month for residents of Victoria.
