Parksville firefighters to host ‘popup water park’ during heatwave

Share

Parksville locals will have one way to cool off during another scheduled heatwave set to cover the Island this weekend.

The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a “popup water park” on Friday, August 13 at Foster Park.

Using an aerial ladder truck and other fire hose appliances, the firefighters will be turning the taps on for a gentle misting spray.

Kids, families, and anyone young at heart is welcome. Volunteer firefighter members will also be on hand to talk about the engines and equipment and to offer tips on safety.

People can even learn about joining up as volunteers themselves.

The popup park will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the corner of Sanderson Road and Pym Street.

Another scheduled appearance is being tentatively looked at for August 20, according to the City of Parksville. Details on the second date have yet to be finalized.

The volunteer fire department can be reached at 250 248-3242 for further information.
