Another day, another horse rescued in Saanich.

At around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, Saanich Firefighters responded to a call of a horse stuck in a swampy area in Saanich.

According to its owner, the horse had wandered into the muddy bog.

The team had to work quickly when they arrived, as the horse was submerged up to his neck.

Firefighters fashioned slings out of fire hoses, moving in to get the slings underneath the stuck animal.

Then, with the help of the horse’s owner and neighbours, the crew was able to rescue the horse from where it was stuck.

The entire rescue mission took just under an hour.

Afterward, the horse remained on it’s side from exhaustion. However, it did eventually stand and was uninjured.

This rescue marked the second in Central Saanich in July. Last month, a horse was rescued from a muddy swamp in Central Saanich after wandering off the Willow Way trail.
