Woman randomly attacks 5-year-old boy on his birthday in downtown Victoria

VicPD are looking to identify a woman who randomly assaulted a five-year-old boy in downtown Victoria yesterday.

The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. on Monday, August 16th in the 1700-block of Government Street.

According to police, a woman and her three children were walking down the street when they encountered an unknown woman who struck one of the children in the face without provocation.

The mother and kids quickly fled the area to a safe location and reported the incident.

VicPD searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate her.

The victim, a five-year-old boy, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident which occurred on his fifth birthday.

The suspect is described as a 30 to a 40-year-old Caucasian woman with shoulder-length brownish-blonde hair.  She is about 5’6″ tall with a slim build.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing light-coloured blue jeans, carried a brown leather bag, and was reported to appear unkempt.

Police were also told the suspect appeared to be agitated at the time of the incident and was yelling in the street. It is believed she was intoxicated by drugs.
