Share

As COVID-19 numbers continue to rise across the province, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced they will be resuming live updates once a week.

The live updates will take place every Tuesday with the first beginning today 1 p.m.

The announcement came on Monday during a press conference where BC health officials announced that they will begin vaccinating clinically-vulnerable populations (CEV’s) with a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccination.

In the same press conference, Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced that it would be a condition of employment for health care workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19, specifically for those working in long-term care homes and assisted living facilities.

This condition will be implemented by October 26th. Individual requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed by the provincial health officer.

As the fourth wave surges on and the new BC Vaccine Card now active, Dr. Bonnie Henry said they will be providing weekly COVID-19 press conferences each Tuesday.

On Monday, officials announce there were 220 new COVID-19 cases reported in the Island Health region since Friday. Overall, 1,984 news cases of the virus were reported over a three day span in the province.
