One man was arrested by VicPD for assault during an anti-vaccine passport protest at the BC Legislature today, after he was doused someone with a hot liquid.

During the arrest, members of the crowd followed officers while they attempted to move the involved parties away from the area to gather additional information for the investigation.

The victim sustained minor injuries, but declined medical treatment.

Victoria police said they patrolled Royal Jubilee Hospital and other medical facilities today to ensure there was unimpeded access to services.

Officers also attended the protest at the legislature to ensure gatherings remained safe, peaceful and lawful.

Victoria’s protests have remained at the BC Legislature and Centennial Square with only a few protestors gathering at some local media outlets today.

Protests against the newly implemented BC Vaccine Card took place in various cities across the province.

Anyone with more information on the assault that occurred is asked to call VicPD at 250-945-7654.
