BC health officials report 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, October 25th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, October 25th.

There have been 202,516 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Friday-Saturday: 613
  • Saturday-Sunday: 529
  • Sunday-Monday: 476

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 190
  • Fraser Health: 699
  • Island Health: 186
  • Interior Health: 254
  • Northern Health: 289
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 4,966 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

195,055 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 366 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 149 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

20 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,129.

Outbreaks

There have been five new health-care facility outbreak: Chilliwack General Hospital, Valleyhaven Retirement Community, Harrison Pointe, Norman Manor (Fraser Health) and Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health).

The outbreak at Tofino General Hospital (Island Health) has been declared over.

There are a total of 29 active outbreaks in the province.

There are currently no active healthcare outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 186 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 500 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 170 │Total Cases: 4338
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 278 │ Total Cases: 4705
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 52 │Total Cases: 1263

54 people remain in hospital with 20 in ICU.

There were 3 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 86 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, 89.6% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.4% have received their second dose.

In addition, 90.0% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 85.0% have received their second dose.

To date, 8,156,567 (+36,109) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,910,536 (+19,478) of which are second doses.
