The BC Ministry of Health reported 609 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, October 27th.
There have been 203,582 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 79
- Fraser Health: 257
- Island Health: 55
- Interior Health: 92
- Northern Health: 126
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 4,748 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
196,342 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 422 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 157 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
6 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 2,137.
Outbreaks
There have been five new health-care facility outbreaks: Queen’s Park Care Centre, Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, Pacific Carlton Seniors Community, Tabor Home and Rideau Retirement Residence (Fraser Health).
The outbreak at Sunset Manor (Fraser Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 32 active health care outbreaks in the province.
There are currently no active health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 55 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 461 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 135 │Total Cases: 4,378
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 276 │ Total Cases: 4,779
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 50 │Total Cases: 1,280
There were 3 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 89 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, 89.7% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.7% have received their second dose.
In addition, 90.1% of all eligible adults have received their first dose and 85.3% have received their second dose.
To date, 8,186,611 (+15,475) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,925,937 (+7,552) of which are second doses.
