The BC Ministry of Health reported 667 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, October 15th.
There have been 196,433 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 75
- Fraser Health: 246
- Island Health: 59
- Interior Health: 101
- Northern Health: 184
- Resident outside Canada: 2
There are currently 5,128 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
188,851 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 367 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 152 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
13 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,055.
Data by Vaccination Status:
From Oct. 7-13, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 68.3% of cases and from Sept. 30-Oct. 13, they accounted for 76.3% of hospitalizations.

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Sept. 30-Oct. 13):
- Not vaccinated: 51.3
- Partially vaccinated: 10.4

Outbreaks
There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at GR Baker Memorial Hospital (Northern Health).
The outbreak at Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre (Fraser Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 19 active outbreaks:
- Long-Term Care: Willingdon Care Centre, Westminster House, Magnolia Gardens, Manoah Manor, Cherington Place, West Shore Laylum (Fraser Health), Cottonwoods Care Centre, Joseph Creek Care Village, Overlander, Village by the Station, Haven Hill Retirement Centre (Interior Health) and Wrinch Memorial Hospital (Northern Health).
- Acute Care: Mission Memorial Hospital (Fraser Health), University Hospital of Northern BC, GR Baker Memorial Hospital (Northern Health) and Tofino General Hospital (Island Health).
- Assisted or Independent Living: Sunset Manor, Evergreen Manor (Fraser Health) and Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health).
Island Health:
Island Health reported 59 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 484 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 204 │Total Cases: 4122
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 226 │ Total Cases: 4356
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 54 │Total Cases: 1203
48 people remain in hospital with 31 in ICU.
There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 80 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, 89.0% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.0% received their second dose.
In addition, 89.5% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 83.7% received their second dose.
To date, 8,025,356 (+16,498) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,848,689 (+6,442) of which are second doses.
