Nanaimo RCMP are seeking information from the public after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and sent her to hospital.

The collision occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday October 12th in the east facing parking lot of Brooks Landing Mall.

The 18-year-old victim told police she was walking through the parking lot when she saw a grey SUV approaching. As the vehicle approached, she heard the engine being revved.

The vehicle then struck her with enough force to lift her off the ground.

The victim maintained her balance but before she could get a look at the driver and the SUV, the vehicle was seen driving through the parking lot and onto Estevan Road.

The victim called her boyfriend who drove her to the Nanaimo hospital, where she was treated for soft tissue damage in her upper leg.

She reported the incident to Nanaimo RCMP who were unable to receive surveillance video. A witness who mouthed ‘are you ok?’ to the victim when the incident occurred did not stay to give a report.

Nanaimo RCMP are asking anyone with information to call them at 250-754-2345.
