Strong southeasterly winds of 50 to 70 km/h gusting to 90 will develop over East Vancouver Island Sunday afternoon.

The province is urging British Columbians on Vancouver Island and the South Coast to be prepared.

The weather alert has been issued for the following locations:

The strong winds will persist through Sunday night and strengthen on Monday morning across the coastal regions of the Strait of Georgia, including Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands and Sunshine Coast.
