VicPD arrested a knife-wielding man on Friday night who was allegedly yelling and threatening passersby.
At approximately 7 p.m. on October 15th, officers were called to the intersection of Bay and Blanshard Streets after several reports of a man allegedly yelling and threatening passersby while wielding a knife.
When the suspect was confronted by VicPD, the man allegedly reached for his knife.
In response, officers deployed an ARWEN less-lethal plastic projectile.
The man surrendered and was taken to hospital for treatment where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and once medically cleared he was transported to VicPD cells.
Later, the man was released from custody with a court date and conditions.
VicPD cited Bill C-75 as reason for his release in a media release regarding the incident.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call (250) 995-7654.
