West Shore family seek help in locating missing special needs child seat

Share

A family in the West Shore are asking for the public’s help in finding a lost specialized child seat for their daughter with special needs.

The seating device, called a Firefly Goto seat, is a loan from the Queen Alexandra Centre.

The parents believe the seat could have been mistakenly taken from a restaurant or simply misplaced anywhere between Victoria and Duncan, around Thanksgiving Day.

“My wife and I have misplaced our daughter’s ToGo seat,” the father, Joshua Toorenburgh told Victoria Buzz.

“It’s a 4 point seatbelt type sitting device, which straps to a chair, for our disabled daughter,” said Toorenburgh.

Efforts to retrace the seat to date have proven to be unsuccessful.

West Shore RCMP sent out a media release in hopes it would help the family find the special seating device.

“We are hoping the communities around southern Vancouver Island can rally up together in effort to locate this special seating device for this child who cannot sit without support,” said Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

Anyone with information is asked call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
