(The Lakehouse at Shawnigan)

What if we told you one of the Island’s best kept secrets when it comes to incredible dining is just a short drive away?

Nestled at the end of the west arm of Shawnigan Lake, the Lakehouse features a stunning lakeside experience like no other. Expansive water views, a large dock and three patios are all part of Cowichan Valley’s most exciting new dining venue.

The Lakehouse at Shawnigan offers a seasonal rotating menu of Chef Bissell’s culinary creations, with a few mainstay dishes such as their mouth-watering fried chicken sandwich, scrumptious pulled pork sliders, and appetizer mac and cheese.

If you haven’t had the chance to try them out for yourself, you’re in luck – we’re giving away dinner for four people – you’ll find those contest details below!

Farm to table isn’t just a nice concept there, it’s a way of life

With the majority of the Lakehouse’s menu’s dishes using locally sourced ingredients, in-house made delights and more, their delicious seasonal cuisine is more than just farm-to-table – it’s how they’re sustainable.

From hand-foraged mushrooms by the Executive Chef himself to in-house baked breads, meat smoked on site and so much more, you’ll know your meal is coming from the roots of the Cowchan Valley community – sometimes, quite literally!

Lakehouse’s cocktail menu is just as impressive, with signature drinks such as the Cheeky Tiki, Maple Smoked Old Fashioned, and “Root Beer” Over Proof Manhattan.

“Love is the coal that makes this train roll”

The above is what you’ll see lit up above the restaurant’s bar as soon as you walk in, with a sense of welcoming right along with it.

The Lakehouse at Shawnigan has created an atmosphere inviting guests to a dining experience like no other, and Executive Chef Ryan Bissell has created a menu, and levels of service, that will delight everyone.

Though casual, the interior holds a sophisticated touch with expansive vaulted ceilings, wood beams reminiscent of a cozy log cabin, and touches of class throughout; not to mention an abundance of natural light from the windows overlooking the lake.

Come for the experience

The fact that you can cruise on over in your boat or kayak for dockside parking is just one of the many perks of the whole experience that is the Lakehouse Restaurant.

Surrounded by the Cowichan Valley and all of its amenities, the Lakehouse is in close proximity to wineries – Merridale Cider and Unsworth Vineyards, just to name a couple – as well just a short jaunt away from the historic Kinsol Trestle, and one of the Island’s newest attractions, the Malahat Skywalk.

Just 40 minutes away from downtown Victoria, you can visit the Lakehouse Restaurant for a quick lunch or dinner, or experience a full day of activities in the surrounding areas.
