BC health officials report 322 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 24th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 322 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 24th.

There have been 216,334 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 50
  • Fraser Health: 100
  • Island Health: 42
  • Interior Health: 86
  • Northern Health: 44
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 3,015 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

210,828 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 318 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 109 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

9 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,313.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks.

The outbreaks at Village by the Station and Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 10 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There is currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 42 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 354 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 82 │Total Cases: 4770
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 193 │ Total Cases: 5804
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 79 │Total Cases: 1644

51 people remain in hospital with 12 in ICU. 

There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 119 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, 91% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87.4% have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.4% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 88% have received their second dose.

To date, 8,587,520 (+19,388) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,053,088 (+2,954) of which are second doses.
