The BC Ministry of Health reported 549 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, November 5th.
There have been 208,265 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 78
- Fraser Health: 184
- Island Health: 73
- Interior Health: 110
- Northern Health: 102
- Resident outside Canada:2
There are currently 4,483 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
201,267 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 441 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 129 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
2 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,201.
Outbreaks
There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at Bethshan Gardens (Fraser Health).
The outbreak at West Shore Laylum (Fraser Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 37 active outbreaks in the province.
There are currently 2 active outbreaks in the Island Health region: Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 73 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 494 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 120 │Total Cases: 4511
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 304 │ Total Cases: 5161
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 70│Total Cases: 1371
68 people remain in hospital with 19 in ICU.
There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 97 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, 90.2% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 85.7% have received their second dose.
In addition, 90.6% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 86.3% have received their second dose.
To date, 8,311,858 (+16,012) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,973,745 (+5,251) of which are second doses.
