BC health officials report 992 new cases of COVID-19 for a two-day period on Friday, November 12th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 992 new cases of COVID-19 for a two-day period on Friday, November 12th. 

There have been 211,750 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Wednesday-Thursday: 519
  • Thursday-Friday: 473

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 117
  • Fraser Health: 308
  • Island Health: 138
  • Interior Health: 263
  • Northern Health: 166
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 4,265 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

204,963 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 384 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 124 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

23 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,257.

Outbreaks

There have been two new health-care facility outbreaks at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (Fraser Health) and Royal Inland Hospital (Interior Health).

The outbreaks at The Emerald at Elim Village, Bethshan Gardens, Hallmark on the Park (Fraser Health) and GR Baker Memorial Hospital (Northern Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 25 facilities with ongoing outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 2 active health care outbreaks in Island Health: Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 138 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 546 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 121 │Total Cases: 4630
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 314 │ Total Cases: 5466
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 111 │Total Cases: 1491

60 people remain in hospital with 13 in ICU. 

1 new death was reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 97 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, 90.6% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.5% received their second dose.

In addition, 91.0% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 87.1%  received their second dose.

To date, 8,423,484 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,010,702 of which are second doses.
