Share

BC Ferries, BC Transit, and handyDART will be waiving fares for veterans this Remembrance Day.

On November 11th, all scheduled routes and handyDART services in the Victoria Regional Transit System will be participating with free fares for riders with Army, Navy or Air Force Association cards, or passengers who are currently serving or retired.

BC Ferries will also be offering complimentary passenger fares for customers travelling in uniform or who present their official Canadian military identification.

These free fares are not applicable on the Inside Passage, Haida Gwaii and Central Coast Connector routes.

BC Transit and BC Ferries will also observe the traditional moment of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11th in memory of those who gave their lives and service in times of war.

BC Transit will honour veterans by displaying “Lest We Forget” on their destination signs. If it is safe to do so, bus drivers can safely stop to observe the moment of silence.

BC Ferries will also be providing free travel for BC seniors with the presentation of a BC Services Card, BC Drivers License, BC Identification Card or Birth Certificate.
