It’s going to be a windy one, Victoria!

Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for the Greater Victoria area.

According to reports, the intense Pacific front will arrive along the BC coast this afternoon and last until Tuesday morning.

The wind warning affects communities along the Strait of Georgia and Haro Strait including Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, East Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

The front will spread strong winds, from 70 km/h to 90 km/h tonight, lasting until Tuesday morning when they ease off.

Environment Canada warns that these intense winds could cause damage to buildings, toss loose objects, or cause tree branches to break.

Be aware of your surroundings, avoid wooded areas and if you’re camping, move to sturdy shelters.
