Now that the US-Canada border is officially open to vaccinated travellers, there’s a few boxes you need to check before leaving on a trip.
If you’re travelling for more than three days out of Canada, you might want to look at what PCR testing options are available at your destination.
For those going on short trips, you can use a PCR test, or antigen test, of up-to 72 hours old when coming back into the country.
PCR tests range from $139 to $250 while antigen tests cost around $130. If you’re travelling for recreation, it will come out of your own pocket.
The BC Centre for Disease Controlhas identified several testing centres in the Greater Victoria area that allow travellers to pay for a test before their trip.

24/7 Testing
Where: At your door.
This mobile service is available in Metro Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, and Victoria. Prices vary depending on how far staff have to travel. You can expect results to come back between 24 to 36 hours.
Boundless Medical
Where: 2nd floor of the University Heights Mall at the corner of Shelbourne Street and McKenzie Avenue.
Boundless Medical offers viral antigen tests which are also accepted across borders. All viral antigen results are received by the end of day. Results may be ready within 30 minutes. $130 when paid in advance online and $160 for walk-in or urgent testing.
Connectus Global
Where: Victoria International Airport.
Connectus Global offers PCR tests the same day up to 48 hours, which one you require will determine the price you will pay.
Same day tests will cost $275, within 24 hours is $250 and if you have a little more time a test within 48 hours will cost $175. Be aware that while Connectus’ PCR test is accepted in most places except Hawaii.
Saanich Plaza Medical Clinic
Where: 3544 Blanshard Street.
Saanich Plaza Medical Clinic is now offering PCR tests to individuals not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. They charge a private fee of $250 at time of testing. Test results will come back within 24-48 hours.
