Saanich Police have arrested a 33-year-old man in an alleged sexual assault on Lochside trail that occurred in early September.

On September 6th, at about 7:30 p.m., a woman walking north on the trail near Swan Street was approached from behind by the suspect who then committed a sexual assault.

Despite searching the area following the offence, officers were unable to locate him. The suspect was last seen walking north toward Saanich Road.

Over two months later, Saanich Police announced that on November 21st, the suspect was spotted on the Galloping Goose Trail near Swan Lake and was taken into custody.

The 33-year-old man has since been released with several police-imposed conditions.

The suspect has a court date scheduled for early 2022.

Investigators are recommending one count of sexual assault.
