Prolific offender busted breaking into Victoria construction site over the weekend

One person is in custody after being caught breaking into a construction site on Halloween night.

Shortly after 6 p.m., on Sunday, October 31st, VicPD officers responded to a call of a break and enter in progress at a construction site in the 1000-block of Tillicum Road. 

According to VicPD, the suspect was stealing items from within the construction site and fled on foot when police arrived.

Officers chased the suspect on foot, with one officer jumping over a fence and tacking the man. 

The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. 

After the arrest, officers learned the man was breaching several conditions of a conditional sentence. Counts included break and enter and uttering threats.

The suspect was also found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants for break and enter from across the Capital Regional District.

One of the conditions required the suspect to be under house arrest. 

Following the arrest, the suspect reported stiffness and soreness but declined medical attention. 

The suspect was transported to VicPD cells where he was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
