Saanich Peninsula Hospital has temporarily closed its emergency department due to issues related to flooding, officials said.
Patients are being diverted to Victoria General hospital or Royal Jubilee hospital.
According to a statement from Island Health, the flooding could potentially impact diagnostic equipment.
Island Health is telling anyone in need of immediate emergency care to call 911 or access either Victoria General or Royal Jubilee Hospitals’ emergency rooms.
Ambulances are being diverted to the Royal Jubilee.
This isn’t the first time this year that Saanich Peninsula Hospital has had to turn away emergency patients.
On Saturday, August 21st, Saanich Peninsula Hospital could not accept new patients at the emergency department due to a staffing shortage at the hospital.
