Unfortunate news to pass on today, as Christmas celebrations at the Parliament have been delayed.
The BC Legislature has announced the cancellation of the holiday light up ceremony set to start at 6 p.m. this evening.
We regret to advise that the Christmas Lights Across Canada event scheduled at 6pm today has been cancelled. We are grateful to the local choirs, bands, and organizations that offered to participate in the event. Details about a possible rescheduling will be shared ASAP. https://t.co/GcvI1GJHOZ

The free, all-ages event was to feature the lighting of the parliament building and sequoia tree, performances by local choirs and seasonal treats.
Earlier this afternoon, VicPD announced they anticipated disruptions downtown starting at 3 p.m. as protestors planned to march throughout the downtown core.
As a result, VicPD also deployed additional, temporary CCTV cameras to monitor the downtown area as the protests occur.
We are anticipating #yyjtraffic disruptions downtown & at the @BCLegislature area starting at 3pm as protestors plan to march. We are deploying temporary, monitored CCTV cameras to help keep everyone safe. Pls plan an alternate route. #yj https://t.co/NPFdCpiri1
