Three RCMP officers were transported to hospital this morning following a crash along the Pacific Marine Route.

Shortly after 8 a.m., officers travelling southbound on the corner of the 22 kilometre mark collided with a portion of a logging truck.

The logging truck was travelling northbound and lost its load of logs impacting another police vehicle.

Three police officers were transported to a local hospital for assessment. Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

The area surrounding the crash has since been closed for investigation.

The affected area of the forestry road will be reopened once the investigation by the Collision Analyst concludes and the area has been cleared.

Lake Cowichan RCMP are asking travellers to avoid the Pacific Marine Route at this time.
