Police are warning the public after an attempted luring incident Friday afternoon.

According to VicPD, a woman believed to be in her 60s or 70s allegedly offered an 11-year-old child money and a bible before asking them to enter a vehicle at Victoria’s Topaz Park.

The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. while the child was playing on the Finlayson turf at the park.

Police say the child refused the offers when the woman approached them and quickly told a trusted adult, however, the woman had already left the area by this time.

The woman is described as Caucasian, approximately 60 to 70-years old, with a slim build and shoulder-length grey hair. She wore glasses and a grey or black pull over sweater, grey or black pants and was carrying a red book. She was last seen in a silver sedan.

Police are looking to identify and speak with the woman to learn more about what occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to contact VicPD at (250) 995-7654. To report what you know anonymously, call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
