VicPD will require their employees to be fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 15th

In a press release today, VicPD has announced how they will move forward regarding COVID-19 vaccination and testing within their department.

By November 15th, employees must provide proof of full vaccination or begin to undergo regular COVID-19 antigen testing.

This includes all VicPD staff, including police officers, civilian staff, special municipal constables, volunteers and contractors.

The announcement comes after the City of Victoria, District of Saanich and Township of Esquimalt announced their own mandatory vaccination requirements for their municipalities.

The mandate also aligns with the provincial announcement that all BC Public Service employees will be required to be vaccinated along with the strong recommendation that employers put their own vaccine policies in place.

“I know that most of our staff are fully vaccinated and have the BC Vaccine Card,” Chief Del Manak said.

“That said, we need to confirm the safety of our staff and the public, and will implement rapid testing for those that are not fully vaccinated.”
