Westshore RCMP investigating alleged attack by cyclist in Langford

Westshore RCMP are investigating an incident in which a 65-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a cyclist in Langford.

Just before 11 a.m. on November 9th, officers responded to a report after a passerby witnessed a man hitting a woman with his bicycle on Jacklin Road near Langford Parkway.

According to police, the woman was knocked over by the suspect and hit her head on the sidewalk.

Witnesses provided Westshore RCMP with a detailed description of the suspect which ultimately led to the suspect’s arrest.

The 34-year old man has since been released and is set to appear in court on February 10th, 2022.

Constable Alex Bérubé said that while the investigation is still in its early stages, the motive of the attack may have stemmed from a verbal confrontation regarding the cyclist riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. The victim and the suspect are not known to each other.

The woman was able to proceed with her day without needing medical attention.
