BC health officials report 326 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 7th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 326 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 7th.

There have been 220,856 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 53
  • Fraser Health: 92
  • Island Health: 71
  • Interior Health: 88
  • Northern Health: 22
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 2,814 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

215,577 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 242 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 82 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

1 new person has died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,363.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks in the province.

There are a total of 5 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

3 new cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in British Columbia, bringing the provincial total to 5 cases. Of these cases, 3 were confirmed in full vaccinated individuals and all were associated with travel.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 518 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 80 │Total Cases: 4947
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 214 │ Total Cases: 6208
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 224│Total Cases: 2015

37 people remain in hospital with 6 in ICU. 

There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 124 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, 85.6% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82% have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.3% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.2% received their second dose and 11% have received a third dose.

Also, 91.7% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 88.7% received their second dose and 12% have received a third dose.

To date, 8,832,580 (+21,418) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,088,609 (+2,674) of which are second doses.
