The BC Ministry of Health reported 375 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, December 1st.
There have been 218,801 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 70
- Fraser Health: 98
- Island Health: 76
- Interior Health: 69
- Northern Health: 62
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 2,936 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
213,394 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 301 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 98 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
7 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 2,340.
Outbreaks
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks in the province.
There are a total of 5 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.
There are currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 76 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 491 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 115 │Total Cases: 4879
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 213 │ Total Cases: 6017
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 163 │Total Cases: 1808
49 people remain in hospital with 15 in ICU.
There were 3 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 122 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, 84.8% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.7% have received their second dose.
In addition, 91.2% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 87.9% received their second dose, and 9% have received a third dose.
To date, 8,709,802 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC.
