

The BC Ministry of Health reported 405 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, December 3rd.
There have been 219,584 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 45
- Fraser Health: 110
- Island Health: 96
- Interior Health: 97
- Northern Health: 57
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 3,071 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
214,047 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 276 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 95 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
6 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,351.
Outbreaks
There is one new health-care facility outbreak at Ponderosa Lodge (Interior Health).
The outbreak at Peace Villa (Northern Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 5 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.
There are currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 96 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 577 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 128 │Total Cases: 4910
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 248 │ Total Cases: 6090
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 201 │Total Cases: 1889
44 people remain in hospital with 14 in ICU.
There were 2 new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 124 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, 85.1% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.8% have received their second dose.
In addition, 91.2% of eligible people 12 and older have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88% received their second dose and 10% have received a third dose.
To date, 8,761,618 (+25,233) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,079,299 (+3,066) of which are second doses.
