The BC Ministry of Health reported 519 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 14th.
There have been 223,661 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 106
- Fraser Health: 110
- Island Health: 123
- Interior Health: 145
- Northern Health: 34
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 3,171 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
218,001 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 191 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 81 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
There were no reports of deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,386.
Outbreaks
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks in the province.
There are a total of 3 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.
There are currently no health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 123 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 717 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 295 │Total Cases: 5250
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 203 │ Total Cases: 6393
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 219 │Total Cases: 2224
37 people remain in hospital with 13 in ICU.
There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 132 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
As of Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, 86.6% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82.4% have received their second dose.
In addition, 91.5% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.6% received their second dose and 13% have received a third dose.
Also, 91.9% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 89.1% received their second dose and 14% have received a third dose.
To date, 9,001,045 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,105,425 of which are second doses.
