BC health officials report 946 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, December 6th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 946 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on  Monday, December 6th.

There have been 220,530 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Friday-Saturday: 351
  • Saturday-Sunday: 311
  • Sunday-Monday: 284

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 138
  • Fraser Health: 285
  • Island Health: 197
  • Interior Health: 211
  • Northern Health: 115
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 2,876 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

215,190 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 241 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 89 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

11 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,362.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks in the province.

There are a total of 5 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently no ongoing health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Island Health:

Island Health reported 197 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 511 active cases.

Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:

  • South Vancouver Island  Active cases: 89 │Total Cases: 4939
  • Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 212 │ Total Cases: 6176
  • North Vancouver Island  Active cases: 210 │Total Cases: 1883

37 people remain in hospital with 9 in ICU. 

There were no new deaths reported in the Island Health region today, and a total of 124 deaths on Vancouver Island.

Vaccinations

As of Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, 85.5% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82.0% have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.3% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.1% received their second dose and 11% have received a third dose.

Also, 91.7% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 88.7% received their second dose and 11% have received a third dose.

To date, 8,811,162 (+49,544) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 4,085,935 (+6,636) of which are second doses.
