Nanaimo RCMP are currently investigating shots fired into a parked vehicle in Nanaimo last night.

Just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8th, officers received reports of shots ringing out in a quiet, north Nanaimo residential area.

When officers arrived to the 6000 block of Linley Valley Road, they found an older model Chrysler with multiple bullet holes.

The vehicle was towed for forensic inspection and appeared to have been unattended at the time of the shots being fired.

According to witnesses, a newer model black SUV left the area at high speeds north immediately after the shots rang out.

No suspects have been identified at this time.

“This was an extremely brazen act, and Investigators are focused on understanding the motive behind it and finding out who is responsible,” said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250 754 2345.
