The District of Saanich has been awarded a safety excellence award at a provincial award ceremony.
The Organizational Safety Excellence Award, which was awarded to Saanich at the BC Municipal Safety Association’s 2021 annual awards celebration, recognizes local governments for activities that reduce injuries, illness, disease and fatalities.
According to the BC Municipal Safety Association, Saanich has demonstrated leadership, dedication and hard work in reducing costs of claims by creating safer and healthier workplaces in the region.
“Organizational excellence is a key goal in Saanich’s strategic plan and I’m proud we have been recognized for this achievement,” said Director of Corporate Services Laura Ciarniello.
“We are thankful to the BC Municipal Safety Association for their support of local governments in BC.”
This is the second straight year the municipality has won the award.
The BC Municipal Safety Association is a non-profit society which aims to improve worker health and safety and enhance safety culture through the sharing of knowledge and resources.
