Another protest is expected to take place in Victoria this weekend.
The protest, which began in support of the ‘Freedom Convoy’ is expect to begin around 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 5th.
The group plans to leave the Campbell River area first thing in the morning and weave its way down Vancouver Island until reaching Victoria.
A poster circulating online is encouraging any motorist to join in on the convoy, who plan who plan to drive in the right lane with hazard lights on. The group is also encouraging drivers to honk from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.
Once in Victoria, the group suggests they will loop around the city a couple times before parking and making their way to the parliament building.
Last Saturday, thousands of protesters lined streets and gathered on the legislature lawn as a convoy of vehicles choked downtown streets, bringing traffic to a crawl.
The honk-filled rally in Victoria coincided with the culmination of a massive cross-country protest in Ottawa, where thousands of trucks and other vehicles packed Parliament Hill and the city’s downtown.
The Freedom Convoy started in response to the federal government’s vaccine mandate for Canadian cross-border essential workers, including truckers, requiring proof of vaccination to avoid quarantining after returning to Canada.
