BC health officials report 1,187 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 9th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,187 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 9th.

There have been 336,229 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 147
  • Fraser Health: 316
  • Island Health: 163
  • Interior Health: 370
  • Northern Health: 191
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 21,974 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

There are now a total of 893 people in hospital with COVID-19, 143 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

18 new people have died from COVID-related causes, including 5 in Island Health, making the provincial death toll 2,725.

Outbreaks

There has been one new health-care facility outbreak in the province:  Sidney All Care (Island Health).

The outbreaks at Louis Brier Home and Hospital (Vancouver Coastal Health) and Victoria General Hospital (Island Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 54 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 26 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Wednesday, February 9th:

  • 11,018,619 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC.
  • 90.3% (4,500,635) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.8% (4,225,555) have received their second dose.
  • 93.0% (4,312,613) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.4% (4,189,233) received their second dose and 50.6% (2,347,591) have received a third dose.
  • 93.4% (4,039,554) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 90.8% (3,928,825) received their second dose and 53.7% (2,320,773) have received a third dose.
