BC health officials report 1,799 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, February 4th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,799 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, February 4th.

There have been 330,942 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 294
  • Fraser Health: 551
  • Island Health: 232
  • Interior Health: 531
  • Northern Health: 191
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are currently 25,479 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

301,573 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are now a total of 946 people in hospital with COVID-19, 139 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

19 new people have died from COVID-related causes, including 6 deaths in the Island Health region, making the provincial death toll 2,675. 

Outbreaks

There have been 3 new health-care facility outbreaks in the province: Creekside Landing (Interior Health), Chemainus Health Care Centre and Selkirk Seniors Village (Island Health).

The outbreak at Joseph Creek Care Village (Interior Health) has been declared over.

There are a total of 58 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 26 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Friday, February 4th:

  • 10,872,777 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC
  • 90% (4,486,817) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.2% (4,199,246) have received their second dose.
  • 92.8% (4,302,180) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.2% (4,179,452) received their second dose, and 48.1% (2,229,462) have received a third dose.
  • 93.2% (4,029,724) of all eligible adults have received their first dose, 90.6% (3,919,760) received their second dose, and 51.5% (2,227,223) have received a third dose.
