BC health officials report 583 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, February 25th

The BC Ministry of Health reported 583 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, February 25th.

There have been 347,376 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 91
  • Fraser Health: 138
  • Island Health: 96
  • Interior Health: 183
  • Northern Health: 75
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are now a total of 599 people in hospital with COVID-19, 96 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

12 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,851.

Outbreaks

There has been one new health-care facility outbreaks in the province: Cascade Gardens Seniors Community (Fraser Health).

The outbreaks at Sunridge Place, Sluggett House and The Heights at Mt. View (Island Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 27 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 12 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Friday, February 25th:

  • 11,310,191 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC
  • 90.6% (4,514,727) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.1% (4,289,963) have received their second dose.
  • 93.2% (4,321,476) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.7% (4,203,057) received their second dose and 55.3% (2,562,401) have received a third dose.
  • 93.6% (4,047,393) of eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.1% (3,940,806) received their second dose and 57.4% (2,481,128) have received a third dose.
